Laughing Off the Weight
This class will be for a total of nine weeks. The first week is orientation night and is completely FREE with no obligation to sign up. We will go over any questions you may think of and have you complete a full nutrition and body assessment. The next eight weeks will cover many topics such as:
- Setting Achievable Goals
- Attack the Fat
- Becoming More Active
- Portion Sizes
- Healthy Eating
- Calories In vs. Calories Out
- Talking Back to Negative Thoughts
- Protein vs. Carbohydrates vs. Fiber
- Eating Out
- Keeping the Weight Off
At orientation night the confidential full body assessment will include measurements in the hips and waist, blood pressure, resting heart rate, weight, height, body mass index and body fat percentage. You will weigh each week but only complete the full body assessment for a second time at the end of the program. Registered Dietitians will figure up your calorie needs to lose 1 -2 pounds of body fat each week based off your nutrition assessment. Recipes will also be given to you on a weekly basis. Once you become a member of the “Nut Club” you will have access to online journals and the curriculum. We not only want to you to be successful at weight loss but we want you to have fun while doing it. There will fun skits, videos, fun atmosphere and an easy to follow curriculum that will assure you of having a great time.
The classes are taught by people who have been on the same weight roller coaster you are on and a Registered Dietitian. It doesn’t matter if you have been trying to lose weight your entire life, have those last few pounds to lose, want to gain muscle or just learn to live a healthier lifestyle – this class would be beneficial to you and your family’s health.
Diabetes
Diabetes is a disease that takes support and education to conquer. We want to help you laugh it off! Diabetes causes many emotional roller coasters such as anxiety, sadness, denial, depression and anger to name a few. We will cover many topics such as:
- Carbohydrate counting
- Meal planning
- Dining out
- Treating low blood sugars
- Protein vs Carbohydrates vs Fat
- Understanding your lab numbers
- How to talk to your doctor
- Long term complications
This class will begin in 2012; day and time TBA.
Keep Laughing!
Many of us need more than 9 weeks to get our lifestyle on a healthy track. Starting in January 2012 weekly support classes better known as “Keep Laughing” will begin at Faith Christian Outreach. The day and time are TBA. We will continue to weigh but food journaling is optional. MANY topics will be covered, some including:
- Fad diets
- Menu planning
- Heart disease prevention
- Cancer prevention
- Soy benefits
- Calcium
- Making a vacation health plan
- Increase your intake of veggies
- Stress management
- Food facts and fallacies
- Metabolism
- Time management
- Surviving the holidays
- Many other topics of nutrition
We will continue to have a great time while learning tools to keeping your new healthy lifestyle. Classes are offered at a discounted rate to those who completed Laugh It Off. Need more family support - your spouse can join you for FREE!
